Are your meetings for church affairs held in a spirit of worship and in dependence on the guidance of God? Remember that we do not seek a majority decision nor even consensus. As we wait patiently for divine guidance our experience is that the right way will open and we shall be led into unity.
ADVICES & QUERIES NO. 14
For most Quakers, the local meeting is their worshipping community. Local meetings are grouped into geographical communities known as area meetings. We are part of Oxford & Swindon Area Quaker Meeting (OSAM), which also includes local meetings in Oxford, Headington, Charlbury, Burford, Faringdon, Swindon and Marlborough.
To find out more about OSAM and how it supports local meetings, please visit the OSAM Quakers website.
Local meetings beyond OSAM
Oxford lies on the eastern boundary of OSAM. Here is a list of local meetings within 30 miles of Oxford that belong to other area meetings:
- Aylesbury
- Banbury
- Henley on Thames
- High Wycombe
- Newbury
- Reading
- Sibford (near Banbury)
- Wallingford
To find a meeting further afield, visit Find a Quaker meeting on the Quakers in Britain website.
