Seeking Sanctuary, Quakers, and Sanctuary Hosting<\/b><\/a>

In England, from the 12th<\/sup> to the 16th<\/sup> century, sanctuary was a legal procedure  ensuring that once fugitives and felons had crossed the threshold of a churchyard the community was obliged to feed them and keep them safe for up to 40 days.<\/p>\n
