Photo by J Henderson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Some years ago, I did a cull of unused and largely superseded Biblical criticism which left room to expand the sections on pastoral care and green issues. This year I have continued my policy of concentrating on Quaker material which cannot easily be found in what might be called secular libraries, and so I bought some Quaker memoirs and biographies, among them: Caroline Stephen\u2019s <em>Quaker Strongholds<\/em>, Ada Salter\u2019s <em>Pioneer of Ethical Socialis<\/em>, and Martin Kuhn\u2019s <em>Grandmother\u2019s Footsteps<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Handheld Press has published <em>The Conscientious Objector\u2019s Wife<\/em> and Rose Macaulay\u2019s<em> Non-combatants and Others: Writings against War<\/em>, which I have also bought. Following requests, I have purchased Irene Gill\u2019s new book <em>How to be a Refugee: Life Lessons Learned by One Who Escaped the Holocaust.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Over and above this, there is now a children\u2019s section to the library, and the following children\u2019s books were purchased:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Raymond Briggs\u2019 <em>When the Wind Blows<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Three Dr Seuss books<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>The Quiet Book<\/em> by Deborah Underwood<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>The Peace Book<\/em> by Todd Parr<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>A is for Activist<\/em> by Innosanto Nagara.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I will work on expanding this section.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the literature section, which shelves books about Quakers as well as by Quakers, I bought Mrs Craik\u2019s <em>John Halifax, Gentleman<\/em>.
