I forgave all your trespasses long ago,
\nlong, long ago, when first I realized
\nthe depths of your damage,
\nyour soul in turmoil, reaching,
\ngrasping for recognition,
\nyour need to be loved
\nstronger than fear of drowning
\namid the weeds floating
\non the surface of your life.
\nBut now
\nyour reach exceeds your grasp.
\nThe cold reality of steel
\nencases you
\nin a world you never wanted,
\nfor you squandered
\nyour innate power and empathy
\non wounding the vulnerable
\nfor gain.<\/p>\n

And all I can do is forgive.<\/p>\n
