Concentrated thought
\ndeep eyes slashed black
\na cheek squirling and crumbling
\nmouth carrying pain
\nburdened and beautiful
\nstrong in repose.<\/p>\n

(Auerbach came to the UK at the age of 8 <\/i>with the Kindertransport.)<\/i><\/p>\n
